Your Cameras
The key component of any cloud CCTV system is the camera. Unlike some Cloud CCTV providers that tie you into certain CCTV camera brands, SEiNG is compatible with any ONVIF or RTSP CCTV camera. This makes it ideal if you want to keep your existing cameras, choose your preferred brand, or use a mix of different camera models.
If you’re unsure whether you need new cameras — for example, if your existing ones are low resolution or not ideally suited to their environment — our team can help you assess your needs and recommend the right cameras for your site. We’ll even source and install these for you. We don’t favour any particular brand, so you can be confident we’ll choose the solution that genuinely works best for you.
When selecting cameras, consider these features:
- Resolution: Higher resolution cameras provide clearer, more detailed images, which are essential for identifying specific details.
- Indoor/Outdoor Use: Outdoor cameras are built to withstand weather conditions and usually offer a wider field of view. Indoor cameras are optimised for interior settings.
- Additional Features: Depending on your needs, look for night vision, motion detection, and two-way audio for communication.
It’s important to note that because SEiNG has 3 deployment options, you don’t need Cloud enabled cameras. We can take your security to the Cloud even without built-in Cloud storage. This gives you complete flexibility with your setup.
Stable Internet Connection
A reliable and fast internet connection is crucial for the smooth operation of a cloud CCTV system. The quality of the video stream and the ability to store footage in the cloud depend on the stability and speed of the internet connection. Consider the following:
- Bandwidth: Ensure your internet plan supports the data upload requirements of your cameras, especially if using multiple high-definition or 4K cameras.
- Network Security: Implement measures such as VPNs or firewalls to secure your surveillance data and ensure safe transmission.

Power Supply
Maintaining a continuous power supply is essential for the operation of your cloud CCTV system. Consider these options:
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS): A UPS provides backup power in case of an outage, preventing system downtime and ensuring continuous recording.
- Power Over Ethernet (PoE): PoE simplifies installation by allowing power and data to be transmitted over a single cable, reducing the need for additional wiring.
Cloud Gateway
Not every SEiNG customer will need our small gateway device, which connects your CCTV cameras to the cloud. However, if you have legacy cameras, require buffer storage, or want to reduce bandwidth usage, we may recommend it.
The SEiNG Cloud Gateway is an on-site device that securely uploads video and metadata to the cloud. It includes buffer storage to handle internet outages, supports motion-only uploads to minimise bandwidth, encrypts all data in transit, and manages local access controls for enhanced security.
