SEiNG Alerts & Analytics: Turning Data into Actionable Insights

SEiNG Alerts and Analytics help you stay on top of your sites by turning surveillance data into actionable insights. This guide walks you through setting up CCTV alerts, monitoring activity, and using analytics to make faster, smarter decisions.

Instant CCTV alerts

Alerts are the foundation of SEiNG's analytical power. By configuring a Custom Alert, you define exactly what the system should track:

  • Logic: Motion Detection, Object Counting, and Dwell Time.
  • Integration: Hardware Inputs and triggered Outputs.
  • Communication: Real-time Notifications.

Once your alerts are active, the Analysis tab automatically populates with visual data. Review your results through interactive graphs and KPIs to get a deeper understanding of your security environment.

Create an Alert

Log into SEiNG using Single Sign On. Upon logging in, you’ll see your Dashboard,

Under the sidebar menu to the left of the screen, click “Integrations”. The menu will expand to show “Alerts”. Click to view a list of your custom alerts.

Click the green “Create an alert” button.

Add custom alert tab

A pop up will appear, where you can configure your alert by navigating the tabs along the top of the screen. Click the green “Create Alert” button when finished.

Alert Information

Provide additional information about the alert you are setting up:

  • Title: name your alert
  • Description: add some text to describe your alert
  • Classification: option to select a classification so you’re only alerted if an object is detected
  • Features: toggle on or off:
    • Generate marker: index the event to make it easy to find later
    • Generate Watchlist item: add alert to your Watchlist, where you can review notifications and alerts

Time

Configure the time windows during which alerts can trigger. This is ideal if, for example, you only want out of hours alerts.

Drag the green bar along the timeline to select your desired alert window. To add a second window, click the yellow plus icon. To remove a window, press the red minus button. Repeat this process according to your schedule, for each day of the week.

Inputs

These are physical sensors or external triggers (such as door contacts or panic buttons) connected to your system. Select the inputs you want to monitor; when these sensors are tripped, they will trigger the custom alert.

Note: if you have an input selected and a classification, they work as an “AND” statement, meaning both criteria need to be met for the alert to trigger.

To manage your inputs, go to “Management” in the sidebar menu, then “Inputs & Outputs”.

Motion Detection

Set up motion detection alerts across monitored devices, or specific regions of those devices. A classification must be selected in the “Alert Information” tab for a motion alert to be set up.

Select the devices from the list on the left.

On the right, you’ll see the camera image. You can now draw your regions on the camera image if required:

Polygon Selection: Use this to draw the region of interest.

  1. Single-click to add each point.
  2. Double-click to complete the shape.

Regions manipulation: Use this tool to refine your detection zones.

  1. Click and drag to reposition the entire region.
  2. Select individual points to adjust the shape.
  3. To remove a region, select it and press the Delete key or click the X icon.

Object Counting

Define counting lines and regions to track object movement. Automatically detect how long objects remain within a specific area. SEiNG generates real-time notifications and detailed analytics for every detected event.

Search for and select your monitored devices from the list to the left of the window. You can then use the polygon, polyline, and region manipulation tools:

  • Polyline Tool (Counting Lines): Use this to draw a virtual tripwire. Click to place points and define the crossing direction; the system will count objects as they pass over the line in the direction indicated by the arrows.
  • Polygon Tool (Detection Regions): Use this to define a specific area. SEiNG tracks how long objects remain within these boundaries (Dwell Time).
  • Region Manipulation: Use this tool to reposition entire zones or fine-tune individual anchor points for precise coverage.

Outputs

These are devices or actions SEiNG can activate in response to an alert. Select your outputs from the list.

To manage your outputs, go to “Management” in the sidebar menu, then “Inputs & Outputs”.

Managing Alerts

Manage your alerts at any time from your Alerts overview.

To edit an alert, click the orange pencil button. This will open the same pop-up window used to create alerts. Scroll up for instructions on how to set up each section.

To delete an alert, click the red bin icon.

Reviewing alerts: Watchlist

When you set up your alert, there is the option to add them to your watchlist. This is where you can review all of your notifications and alerts. It’s a quick way to find the footage you need, create a case, or review what’s going on across your sites.

On your sidebar menu, click “Analysis” then “watchlist”.

Watchlist

Search for your alerts using the search function in the green bar, or filter by:

  • Site
  • Device
  • Objects
  • My alerts

You can also sort by “watched” or “unwatched”.

A summary of all relevant alerts will be listed, including:

  • Thumbnail preview
  • Date and time
  • Title of the alert
  • Site

When you find the notification you need, click it to expand details. You can:

  • Effortlessly review your footage from the media window.
    • Use the scrub bar for a quick review.
    • Toggle audio on or off using the mute icon
    • Enter or exit full-screen mode by either double-clicking the media window or clicking the icon in the bottom-right corner.
  • Share the recording by clicking the green “Share Recording” button.
  • Create a case if it requires further investigation with your team. Press the green “Add Case” button.
  • Download the media using the grey “Download” button.
  • Open the recording and further details using the grey “Open Media” button.

True Cloud CCTV analytics for business

Now you’ve defined your alerts, SEiNG will work in the background to analyse your footage using its machine learning model. No special equipment is needed for this – not even new cameras – as all video is processed in SEiNG’s UK Cloud.

Reviewing CCTV analytics in SEiNG

Click on “Analysis” in the sidebar menu, then select “Analytics”.

You can now explore your video landscape through KPIs and charts.

SEiNG analytics Filter analytics by date, site, or device using the green bar at the top of the screen. SEiNG will show graphs and figures based on the alerts you have configured, over the defined time period including:

  • Number of online devices
  • Total recordings
  • Number of objects counted
  • Objects in region
  • Time in region (dwell time)
  • Object counts per hour
  • Region time per hour

There is a shortcut to the Alerts tab from the analytics page; simply click the grey “Manage Alerts” button in the top right corner.
