Many IT systems – from email and collaboration platforms to network and security – are now routinely delivered as managed services. The reasons are well understood: predictable costs, reduced maintenance, improved security, and the ability to scale without constantly rebuilding infrastructure.
And yet, CCTV often remains stubbornly tied to local hardware.
Across most UK organisations, surveillance infrastructure still relies on on-premise infrastructure: recording workstations, local storage and software installed on individual devices. For small deployments, this can work perfectly well – though, even then, small IT teams could still benefit from managed support. But as organisations grow and systems fragment, new challenges are introduced. All of which can add significant cost.
When businesses start thinking in terms of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than hardware price alone, cloud CCTV often emerges as the more efficient model. Not simply because the technology is newer, but because it benefits from economies of scale.
